On October 5, Fredericktown held its annual Fall Harvest Festival on Sandusky and Main Streets. The Fredericktown Community Development Foundation (FCDF) held their annual Chilli Cook-Off during the festivities.
The chili competition was simple. The nine who signed up brought in their own homemade chili for the public to try. Once the taster tried them all, they would make a money donation to whoever they thought deserved to win. The chili’s were split into three categories: unique, traditional, and spicy. The winner in each category would win a gift card, and then the overall winner would win a second one. The overall (and spicy) winners were Mary and Jeff Stricker, with donations of over $50. The public claims that the chili had not too little but not too much heat, and that they loved the steak chunks in the chili.
Helping at this fun event were our very own NHS members Pink Payne, Antonio Rojas, and Cooper Lowe. Freshman Truth Yarman also volunteered to help.
The $99 in donations went to the FCDF to help them continue the remodeling and beautification of Fredericktown. The overall goal of the FCDF is to meet its citizens’ 21st Century needs, while also staying true to keeping all of Fredericktown’s traditions and heritage alive.
