One day, Mrs. Midcap came home from kindergarten and told her family that she wanted to be a teacher. Now, she has been teaching for almost 32 years! Specifically, she has been a Freddie for almost 30 years.
Outside of school, Mrs. Midcap enjoys traveling, as she has been to 17 other countries already.
That’s why one piece of advice she gives to students is this: “…The world is bigger than Knox County, get out and see it!”
She and her husband are planning to get back to one of their favorite places, Iceland soon, although high on her list to travel to are Peru and Ecuador.
While home, Mrs. Midcap enjoys taking walks and spending time with her cats. Until a recent shoulder injury, she also enjoyed playing in her church softball league around Knox county. Now, she coaches her team to victories each summer.
When she is not coaching she can be found participating in local drama and theater productions. Mrs. Midcap directs more often, but also loves to act in and write productions as well. She is getting excited to showcase a new one in the winter time here at Fredericktown.
Many things have driven Mrs. Midcap to teach. These include her love to explain things to others in order for them to grow in their personal knowledge, as well as helping students become what they are capable of.
Because Midcap is a Spanish teacher, she is able to see students transform from knowing almost nothing of a foreign language to being able to converse in another language. This creates many memories and opportunities for her, so it is hard for her to pick just one favorite.
Mrs. Midcap attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University for both her bachelors degrees and her masters degrees. She then went on to the University of Massachusetts for another masters degree.
We would like to thank her for her dedication and passion within everything she has done over the last 30 years here at Fredericktown!
