To end the semester, English 10 and Honor students worked on a poster board project about the Roaring Twenties and what it was like. This project was to have students ready for reading The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The boards were created based on a topic the students chose. They worked in pairs or trios, unless they wanted to work alone. Their posters were presented as a gallery display. Teachers and students walked around and asked questions about the project. Some topics included fashion – especially flappers, new technology, famous people, the 1919 World Series.
The requirements for the boards were an interesting title, neat and visually appealing designs, 5 points of key interest, clearly displayed poster, overview of their topic, and a prediction on how their project might relate to The Great Gatsby.
Before the poster was made, an essay about their topic was written in MLA format, at least 3 pages.
