Mrs. Levering scored her 1,000th point from a free throw in December of 2007 during her senior year, a picture of it is located in Peppy’s. She had no idea that she was close to getting a thousand. Mrs. Levering’s coach, Dave Logan, didn’t want her or her teammates to know so they could focus on winning the game. She found out at the next home game when they presented her with her ball. All Mrs. Levering could remember about that game was that she was sick with a cough and had a hard time breathing.
Mrs. Levering played volleyball, basketball, and softball, in high school. In high school, Mrs. Levering played basketball, she won too many awards in basketball from 2005-2008. At Fredericktown during her senior year her basketball team went to the regional finals (Elite 8) in Lexington. They broke the attendance record for the gymnasium; however, they lost. This was the first and last time that any girls basketball team made it that far in tournaments from FHS. As for specific awards, they were inducted into the Fredericktown Hall of Fame for individual accolades & with the 2008 team.
Mrs. Levering knew that she wanted to be a teacher in her second year of college. She enjoyed the excitement it gave her to share her love of history to students. She also takes pleasure in helping to shape them into the best version of themselves they can be.
One of Mrs. Levering’s favorite memories from teaching is when her students who have graduated come up to her and express their fondness of her class.
Mrs. Levering’s hobbies include reading, camping, hunting, boating, taking care of her farm animals, and RZR riding.
Riding horses and showing steers are what Mrs. Levering considers her secret talents. She was a master showman in 8th grade and got in the top 10 every year she showed steers. The best she got was 3rd overall.
When she was a senior, she was the Beef Queen Ambassador. They choose a queen or king of beef that represents that farm animal well at the fair.
As queen, she had do some community service events. At the fair, she helped with the shows and be present for the barn. This was an important leadership role for promoting the animal and the organization.
Mrs. Levering’s summer typically consists of boating, swimming, camping, kayaking, and riding bikes. To do this, she travels to various places, from Mohican, Ohio, to Lake Norris, Tennessee.
If teaching didn’t work out, Mrs. Levering would be farming. She said this because her family is the 4th generation of farmers.
Mrs. Levering attended college for 2 years at Northern Kentucky University, 3 years at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and earned her master’s degree at the American College of Education.
Mrs. Levering obviously loves history, so meeting Alexander the Great intrigues her because he was a traveler to many places around the world. She would enjoy talking about his adventures and the types of cultures he saw at that time.
As for time periods, Mrs. Levering would choose the 1920’s in America. It was such a big culture change. It was a prosperous, fun, and a safe time.
Mrs. Levering organized last summer’s FHS trip to Italy. Students voted where they’d want to go and the top vote was Italy. The next trip she is planning is to Scotland in 2026.
Mrs. Levering would love to have the superpower of teleportation. Then she could travel anywhere at any time.
Mrs. Levering has been teaching at Fredericktown for 3 years and 11 years total.
Her advice to others is this: “Don’t be afraid to fail. The best learning comes from failure when you approach it with the right mindset and keep striving to be better. Try to be better than you were the day before.”
