The Biomedical Science Class has been diving deeper into career exploration. Currently, they are learning how to stop bleeding in trauma situations with emergency response teams.
In a hands-on lab, students had the opportunity to use tourniquets to stop a false arm from bleeding out. The simulation allowed students to understand the severity of arterial vs. venous bleeds using purple blood instead of the normal red blood.
Most groups were able to succeed and figured out different strategies to stop the bleeding fairly quickly.
