Like many other newspapers, the Freddie Flash brings news and fun stories to the community. However, the Freddie Flash is purely digital after the recent revival.
This year, the Freddie Flash is made up of three separate class periods that work together to create a final product. To do so, each class has adopted their own jobs to construct a sort of production line.
The biggest and original class, 6th period, does most of the physical articles that are posted on the website. However, each individual has their own subjects that they tend to write about. Everyone chose what they were most interested in as well as most knowledgeable about at the beginning of the year to make their writing process go easier.
To get the student body to interact more with the website, sixth period also does most of the interviews. This is where the famous “Hi guys it’s __ here with the Freddie Flash!” originated from.
Editors of 6th period, Antonio and Lillian, do the online tasks, like the Question of the Day, polls, and uploading articles. Many of the sports photos are also taken by them.
Third period takes charge of all organization processes. Charting photos helps to organize pictures after they have been taken off of the camera. Once charted, anyone that needs a photo can grab the organized binder and find what they need by event. Everything is organized by Nicole, Lizzy, Leah, as well as Hoku.
Eighth period is led by head editor Darren Hartley. When Darren isn’t building onto or rearranging the website, he is usually editing articles written by the eighth period class. The rest of the eighth period staff, including Addison, Emma, and Hoku is typically bouncing around from project to project, whether it’s interviews or writing about something going on in or around the school.
One of our main goals is to make the Freddie Flash seem like more than a class. Student involvement and awareness is incredibly important to the staff of the Freddie Flash.
