The PLTW program has implemented new technology to the lab, hoping to further educate the students who could enter the field using these advancements.
The grant money has allowed FHS to purchase a robotic arm that is told what to do by coding it. The idea of the arm is that here at school a student can engineer with it, or even an adult, in the near future.
The ultimate goal of what the program has been working on is to give students opportunities here at the home school that didn’t exist before.
“The robotic arm brings a direct look at the world of engineering and manufacturing.”
Mrs. Webb, the PLTW teacher, said, “From engineers to technicians, the robotic arm will open up more pathways of knowledge and career choices for the students.”
The students will be able to leave here and take whatever path they choose (college or workforce, or both) and be better prepared than their peers who have not been trained.
Webb felt a whirlwind of emotions thinking about how many more opportunities will open up for the students of Fredericktown.
“We want anyone who could benefit from it to be able to have a chance to discover their passion,“ stated Webb.
It was a good choice for using grant money because it is really preparing the students for life after high school and developing students to be productive members of society.
