To get into the winter spirit, Mrs. Smith’s chemistry classes made winter themed ornaments.
Beginning the process, students bent wire pipe-cleaners into the shape they desired their ornaments to be. Then, water was added to the beaker. After setting the beaker on a hot plate, the water rose higher to 80 degrees celsius. 50g of borax was then added to the hot water and the solution was left to cool with the shaped pipe-cleaner inside.
After letting it cool overnight, crystals were formed on the wire. The ornaments were officially complete.
