As the conclusion to their robotics unit, Principles of Engineering students created a robotic rendition of familiar song.
Once they selected “Eye of the Tiger,” students split into groups and started creating their robotic instruments to imitate the song.
The building and code were each a different style of rigor as they discovered different materials produced different sounds. Once they had completed that, the technique of the sound needed to be addressed.
Groups coded their devices and got the timing of all the notes right.
The final step was making the machines work together to showcase 33 seconds of the song.
While not perfect, it was a multi-faceted project with much individual, team, and class work.
The students impressed Mr. Hollenbaugh. with their presentation. They then discussed how they could’ve improved the performance if they had more time.
This project also showcased their knowledge and skills while gaining real-world transportable skills like collaboration, communication, and teamwork.
