The astronaut company Blue Origin sent 6 females up into space. This was Blue Origin’s first female crew consisting of Katy Perry-a singer songwriter, Gayle King-Broadcast journalist, Lauren Sanchez-CBS’s former Co-host, Aisha Bowe-a former NASA scientist, Amanda Nguyen-Bioastronautics research scientist, and Kerianne Flynn-movie producer.
Some of the training it took to send them up into space would usually take years. However, Katy and the 5 others packed the training of emergency protocols, zero gravity preparation, how to eat food, and fitness into just a few days. None of the girls who went were in charge of controlling the ship since it was completely self-flying. While up in space Katy sang the song “What a wonderful world”.
The trip from Blue Origin, which is Jeff Bezos’ company, was completely funded by him. This trip lasted about 8 minutes, just leaving earth’s atmosphere and then coming back.
