The first senior this year to commit to playing a sport at the college level is Taylor Brown. She signed with Muskingum to play softball starting next fall. She says it’s a small school that has a very welcoming environment.
“They have good nursing and softball programs,” explains Brown. She plans on majoring in nursing because she not only has an interest in the healthcare field, but also in helping others and giving back.
Taylor has been playing softball since she was 7 and has done travel softball for almost 10 years. She currently plays for Ohio Lasers Green. While playing, Taylor either pitches or is the third baseman.
For her college sport, Taylor chose softball over cross country because she’s been playing softball since she was little. Brown loves the game and the skills it has taught her. Taylor says that even though cross country provided her with a great family, softball has always been her favorite.
Taylor’s favorite memory from Fredericktown softball is making it to the Regional Final her freshman year and doing a team sleepover last year.
Taylor’s favorite childhood memory from playing softball is playing with her current teammates. “Growing with them has been a blessing,” she explains.
Taylor has a pre-game routine she always follows. She braids her hair and sometimes her teammates’. She does eyeblack with lots of glitter, drinks Red Bull, and listens to music.
During warmups, Taylor’s team likes to keep things fun, so they’re always laughing and joking.
Right before the game starts, Taylor prays.
