Over spring break, members of the National Honor Society, led by Ellie Kershner, helped paint murals in the high school. One is the key high school student entrance that welcomes them. The other is located in the girls bathroom.
The murals were a service project by a senior Ellie, who wanted hers to be a creative project, since she was required to have a project.
Her inspiration for the art came from the several schools she’s visited in the area for music and athletic competitions. Elie says she wanted to bring that same positivity she saw into the everyday school routine students here have. Boosting school spirit and overall morale were also key goals for the project.
Ellie says, “I never thought I would have the opportunity to draw all over the schools walls and get away with it, but I’m really grateful to have had the chance to be artistic n this way and leave my mark at Fredericktown High.”
To aid Ellie throughout the painting process, NHS members Cassie Fisher and Kara Fields dedicated much of their spring break. Ellie’s family also gave up their time to help the beginning of the process go smoothly.
