The Freddie girls basketball is tied for first place going into their KMAC second half of games, even with ups and downs during the season. They just earned another win against Cardington.
Sophomore Gracyn Toombs, starter on Varsity, is happy to get the win but knows the job is not done because the season is not over. More focus at practice will guarantee getting better.
Toombs stated, “As the weight is on our shoulders, we need to play our game. Our team needs to work together ‘cause it can’t be just one person.”
Junior Zoey Horlacher feels they can get the KMAC championship at the end of the season. Horlacher stated, “We need to want it more than the other teams.” Horlacher hopes the team can make smarter decisions on the court.
Sophomore Nula Hansen has started the past couple games. Hansen feels the team has bonded on the court which helps to read each other better. Hansen feels good about the season although a few teams slipped in with a win.
Hansen calms herself before games by watching videos and taking a deep breath as she walks onto the floor. Hansen and the team will change a few things so the teams they played won’t expect it.
The Freddies had a tough loss against Centerburg, and one of the starters was out. They had an off game and are hoping to get the win at home.
At the beginning of the season Freddies lost to East Knox. This Saturday the girls will be playing them again, having made a few adjustments for this upcoming game.
The team had a great game against Loundville. They went into overtime to win. That happened at the Northmor game too.
At practice we are adjusting a few things so the opposing teams aren’t ready for them. Since the Freddies lost against a few teams the first time around, they have no room for slip ups. The players know they must play their best every game.
They are now tied with Loudonville for 2nd place in KMAC.
