Varsity and JV have started the season good as they have had around 3 scrimmages and getting into games. The 2026 season for these girls is looking positive.
Freshman Cassie Parker got bumped up to the varsity level her first year. Parker thinks that everyone has improved since last year and her grade especially. Parker believes the team needs a little work on everything at the moment, as they are learning to play together.
Explained Parker, “the scrimmage, everyone was very supportive and cheered each other on.” Explained Parker, currently they focus on hitting drills and real game scenarios.
Sophomore Kiersten Mills is a varsity catcher. Last year she caught for JV. Mills says it’s been hard since 5 seniors graduated last year, and losing half of the team. Overcoming that has been hard as everyone is trying to find new positions. Mills thinks that they need to work on a little bit of everything since they’ve only had a few days outside recently.
Mills believed that the good things at their scrimmage was their infield making good plays and the top of the line up getting them started. In practice Mills focuses most on hitting since she is a switch hitter, meaning she hits left and right sides.
Sophomore Bristyn Guthrie played last year and is JV this year. Guthrie stated that the team has come together and have improved a lot in confidence. Guthrie thinks the team needs to work on trusting each other and being vocal, along with reading the ball better.
The energy, team work, and learning from their mistakes showed positively during the scrimmage. During practice, they focus on their mindset and game-like plays. The focus for all is, giving their best effort every practice.
