This year’s Freddie Fans of the Year, Trev and his wife Tracey Ruhl were recognized at the final season home game on February 24th.
Even though he was a Clearfork graduate, Trev Ruhl was a fixture at sports games, starting with his sons.
Between baseball, basketball and football, Ruhl coached, kept books, and cheered on the teams.
Together he and his wife, Tracey, could always be found supporting and rooting for the Freddie teams.
“As our son put it, fan is short for fanatic. This is the best way to describe Trev: A person with an extreme and often unquestioning enthusiasm, devotion, or zeal for something,” explained Tracey Ruhl.
Trev Ruhl lived by the motto “Go hard or go home.”
The players always knew that no matter how they played, everything would be okay. He made sure they had plenty to drink, helped with gear and helped pitchers and catchers, along with giving pep talks.
Besides keeping book, fans would catch him by the bullpen, dug out, field, or court before, during and after the games. Ruhl was offering advice and encouragement, helping with a stance, executing a play, and updating coaches on stats.
“Originally a Clearfork Colt, Trev found his home in being a Freddie as he coached many of his sons’ teams and was rooting loudly for them as they competed as Freddies.
Trev was a fixture at his son’s football, basketball, and baseball games and could always be counted on to be cheering proudly for them and their Freddie teammates.
Together with Tracey, they were a great team supporting and rooting for the Freddie Nation”
