Three students use school time to work on engines in the Ag. room. Jacye Overholt, Connor Galbraith and Charlie Parish enjoy working with their hands, learning new skills, having the free will to do it. They are allowed to bring in their own tools and work with each other.
The three found their engines in the Ag. room. One engine had been in there for a while, because no one had ever fixed it. Galbraith and Parish brought in several engines and got them running in a couple of weeks.
Galbraith enjoys being able to get out of class and work on the engines. Having the experience of going into the shop and working on whatever they want is his favorite part.
“The freedom is great and it lets us learn a lot more by working with each other.”
The Ag teacher Ms. Elfrink brings in tools as well and helps them by giving them ideas on how to solve the issues. They work on these engines during Freddie Focus and lunch, and during free time.
